NICEVILLE, Fla. — A Niceville man has been indicted in federal court on charges connected to a multi-year scheme to defraud victims out of millions of dollars, announced the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.

Sydney Marc Wilson Jr, 47, is accused of Conspiracy to Commit Wire and Mail Fraud, Mail Fraud, Wire Fraud, Money Laundering, and Subscribing to Materially False Tax Returns.
His next court appearance is scheduled for August 1 at 11 a.m. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Hope Thai Cannon.

If convicted, Mr Wilson faces up to 20 years in prison on the fraud charges, up to 10 years on the money laundering charges, and up to three years on the tax charges.
The case is being jointly investigated by IRS Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney David L. Goldberg is prosecuting the case.

An indictment is said to be only an allegation by a grand jury and is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
