Overnight lane closures to impact travel in Okaloosa, Walton counties

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers in Okaloosa and Walton counties should prepare for overnight lane closures and potential traffic delays this week as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues construction and maintenance work on U.S. 98, State Road 85, the Mid-Bay Bridge, and other major routes.

OKALOOSA COUNTY:
— Brooks Bridge replacement project
U.S. 98 lane closures are planned between Ferry Road and Pier Road in Fort Walton Beach, as well as on Santa Rosa Boulevard from Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park, April 13–17, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. A segment of Florida Blanca Place will also be temporarily closed for drainage work. Drivers will be detoured via First Street and Brooks Street.

— U.S. 98 resurfacing, Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Intermittent lane closures are scheduled between Mary Esther and Fort Walton Beach, April 13–17, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for paving and striping operations.

— Mid-Bay Bridge rehabilitation
Drivers may encounter overnight lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge, April 13–17, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

— State Road 85 resurfacing, Hospital Drive to U.S. 90
Nighttime lane closures are planned along SR 85 between Hospital Drive and U.S. 90, April 13–17, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for guardrail and concrete work.

WALTON COUNTY:
— U.S. 331 resurfacing, south of I-10 to U.S. 90
Lane closures are expected between south of I-10 and U.S. 90, April 13–17, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. One northbound left-turn lane to westbound U.S. 90 remains closed. The current lane configuration is expected to stay in place through early May.

— U.S. 331 bridge maintenance over Choctawhatchee Bay
Intermittent lane closures are scheduled north of U.S. 98, April 14–16, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge work.

All construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. FDOT urges drivers to use caution in work zones, especially at night, and to be alert for workers and equipment entering or exiting the roadway.
