NICEVILLE, Fla. — Early voting is underway in Niceville for the April 1 special election and continues daily through Saturday, March 29, according to the Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Office.
The special election will decide who fills the Florida First Congressional District seat vacated by Matt Gaetz, who resigned following his nomination by Donald Trump for U.S. Attorney General.

Republican Jimmy Patronis and Democrat Gay Valimont are the candidates in the race.
Niceville voters may cast their ballots at Niceville City Hall, located at 208 N Partin Drive, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily during the early voting period.
In total, five early voting locations are open across Okaloosa County, all operating from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily:
- Niceville City Hall, 208 N Partin Dr, Niceville
- Okaloosa Supervisor of Elections Headquarters, 302 N Wilson St, Ste 102, Crestview
- Okaloosa County Administration Building, 1250 Eglin Pkwy, Shalimar
- Crestview Public Library, 1445 Commerce Dr, Crestview
- Destin Community Center, 101 Stahlman Ave, Destin
As of March 25, 8,967 vote-by-mail and early voting ballots had been cast countywide, with a 5.79% turnout among 155,004 active eligible voters, the Supervisor of Elections Office reported.
Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned at any early voting site using designated secure ballot intake stations or at the Supervisor of Elections offices. More information is available at VoteOkaloosa.gov.
In Walton County, early voting also continues through March 29, with polls open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily at:
- Walton County Courthouse, DeFuniak Springs
- Freeport City Hall, Freeport
- South Walton Courthouse Annex, Santa Rosa Beach
Election Day is Tuesday, April 1.
