DESTIN, Fla. — The Sinfonia Youth Orchestra will perform a free winter concert on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 5 p.m. at Destin High School, offering an evening of holiday music performed by local young musicians.

The event will feature all ensembles of the Sinfonia Youth Orchestra, including Sinfonietta Strings, Intermediate Strings, Symphonic Orchestra, and After School Beginning Strings students from schools in Okaloosa and Walton counties.

Performances will include international folk songs like Good King Wenceslas and Dreidel, holiday favorites such as Let It Snow! and Here Comes Santa Claus, and a special arrangement from The Nutcracker ballet, along with a preview of the Spring Concert program.

“This is a festive way to get into the spirit of the holidays,” said Sinfonia Youth Orchestra Director Margaret Gordon.

“It’s a great opportunity to hear the only symphonic youth orchestra in Okaloosa County while supporting the talent of local student musicians.”

The Sinfonia Youth Orchestra, a program of Sinfonia Gulf Coast, was founded to enhance arts and music education in Northwest Florida. According to Music & Artistic Director Demetrius Fuller, education remains the organization’s cornerstone.

“The Sinfonia Youth Orchestras are wonderful ways for local youth to grow their musical talents, but it would not be a full experience without an audience,” said Mr. Fuller.

“We hope everyone will come out and support our youth orchestras.”
