FLORIDA — Three individuals have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy involving the Orlando International Airport, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
Jevonn Clayton, 48, was sentenced to 13 years and two months in federal prison. Richardson Sid, 41, received a sentence of six years and six months, while Venus Lott, 46, was sentenced to five years. All three had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Court documents reveal that on August 11, 2022, Mr Clayton agreed to transport suitcases containing methamphetamine from Los Angeles to Orlando on behalf of a drug trafficker. Shortly after that, Clayton and the drug trafficker recruited Ms Lott and Mr Sid to assist in transporting the suitcases.
On August 16, 2022, Clayton, Lott, and Sid departed Los Angeles for Orlando with five suitcases packed with large amounts of methamphetamine. Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation, who were investigating inbound flights at Orlando International Airport, located and searched the suitcases.
The agents reportedly recovered more than 35 kilograms of methamphetamine in several vacuum-sealed bags.
The DEA conducted the investigation with support from the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Noah P. Dorman prosecuted the case.
