US HIGHWAY 98, Fla.—Motorists traveling on US 98 along the Emerald Coast should be prepared for potential delays and traffic disruptions this week due to ongoing construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This comprehensive advisory compiles FDOT’s latest updates for Bay, Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia counties, ensuring you have the most up-to-date information before you hit the road.

BAY COUNTY:

— U.S. 98, west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue
U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures between Tyndall Drive- Airey Avenue, and Louisiana Avenue through the end of August.

— U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street
U.S. 98 drivers will encounter alternating lane closures between Pier Park Drive and Nautilus Street from Sunday, July 14, through Thursday, July 18, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

— Gulf Coast Parkway Construction from U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) to Star Avenue
U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) drivers will encounter a lane closure from East 11th Street to Tram Road Monday, July 15 through Saturday, July 20, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. for turn lane construction. Traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

— U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway), Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive
Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures Sunday, July 14, through Thursday, July 18, for asphalt paving activities.

WALTON COUNTY:

No construction-related traffic impacts are anticipated for this week.

OKALOOSA

— Brooks Bridge, Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road, Sunday, July 14 through Thursday, July 18, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:

— U.S. 98, Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, Sunday, July 14 through Thursday, July 18, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for concrete work and milling and paving operations.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY

— U.S. 98 Widening from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive
Motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts:

  • Median and turn-lane closures from Bayshore Road to Tiger Lake Drive
  • Intermittent lane closures and additional median closures between Bayshore Road and Tiger Lake Drive Sunday, July 14, through Friday, July 19, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for stormwater drainage improvements and paving operations

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

— U.S. 98 (East Garden Street) Routine Maintenance at Intersection with North Tarragona Street
Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 15, through Saturday, July 20, for manhole repairs.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
