FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Fort Walton Beach artist Marcy Eady has been named the recipient of the Women in the Arts Recognition Award by the Choctawhatchee Bay Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for her portrait of Margaret Corbin, the DAR has announced.

According to the DAR, Eady created a painting of the Choctawhatchee Bay Chapter’s project at Okaloosa County’s Veterans Park. Her work captures the Women’s Veterans Park’s “First in Florida, America 250!” Revolutionary War Historical Patriots Marker, Margaret Corbin statue, granite bench, and the Garden celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Eady began her career as an artist when she was a student at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. She graduated with Honors from Northland with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual and Performing Arts and a BA in Business Administration and Management. Since January 1992, she has been the owner and president of her own art business, Make Art Work.

According to the DAR, Eady loves teaching art to children and adults, finding the art medium that is right for each individual.

Eady has been teaching art at the Arts and Design Society, Inc. in Fort Walton Beach since 1995. She teaches all-encompassing clay classes for adults (wheel use, slab, coil, hand building, glazing, firing) and general art classes for children.

Eady worked as Director of the Arts and Design Society from 1995 to 2009, running the day-to-day operations of this non-profit art organization. Since leaving that position, Eady continues to volunteer on the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Kids Camp Summer Program at the Arts and Design Society, the DAR said.

“Eady is an accomplished painter in oils, acrylics, and watercolor. With her varied art background, Eady is often called upon to judge shows, especially children’s art shows,” said the DAR.
