PENSACOLA, Fla. — A Pensacola man has been sentenced for beating his roommate’s small dog on several occasions, the Office of the State Attorney, First Judicial Circuit, has announced.

Andrew Vetters, 25, was sentenced earlier this month by Circuit Court Judge John Simon to six years in Florida’s Department of Corrections, followed by four years of supervision on two counts of Aggravated Animal Cruelty and Trespass, the State Attorney’s Office said.

According to the State Attorney’s Office, an investigation found that in March 2022, Vetters entered his roommate’s private bedroom without her permission and abused her dog.

“The abuse was captured on a camera, and the disturbing footage depicted the defendant as he violently beat the small dog on several occasions,” said the State Attorney’s Office.

Vetters entered a plea of no contest to the charges on December 9, 2022.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and Sgt. Eddins with Escambia County Animal Control.

Assistant State Attorney Cierra Burns prosecuted the case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida.
