WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — A Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol Friday night in an unmarked vehicle near Richardson Road and County Highway 1087 in Defuniak Springs when he observed a stolen silver 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder.
The driver, Cristian Alexander Douglas, had warrants out of Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office for attempted murder and out of Walton County for felony firearms charges, according to the WCSO.
When the deputy got behind him in an unmarked vehicle, Douglas reportedly fled before the deputy got a chance to turn his lights on.
The WCSO reports that Douglas continued at a high rate of speed onto County Highway 192 where he eventually stopped and began to turn around in the middle of the road.
At this point, the deputy activated lights and sirens, the WCSO said in a press release.
Douglas allegedly ran the Mitsubishi Spyder into the front of the deputy’s vehicle before turning around and heading east on Williams Road.
The pursuit continued north on State Highway 83 where numerous marked patrol cars from WCSO, Geneva County, Ala., Samson Police Department, Ala., Samson Police Department, and Alabama Fish and Wildlife jumped in to assist.
Douglas eventually crashed into a yard in Geneva, Alabama before trying to bail on foot. He was taken into custody almost immediately.
Already facing charges of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, grand theft of a firearm, aggravated fleeing, and eluding; Douglas was additionally charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, grand theft auto, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on a Law Enforcement Officer.
Because the pursuit ended in Geneva County, Ala, he was taken to jail there to await extradition.
