While most of the country is experiencing frigid temperatures this winter, a warm tropical breeze has come through HarborWalk Village in Destin with the official opening of the new Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant today. Following a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring project principles, community leaders (including Destin’s Honorable Sarah “Sam” Seevers), Parrot Heads and members from the community, Margaritaville opened its doors for its first customers. Inspired by the lyrics and philosophy of Jimmy Buffett, Margaritaville transports guests to the island destination of their memories or dreams and invites them to raise a glass and take a bite out of paradise.
Perfectly placed directly on Destin Harbor, the 27,000 sq. ft. restaurant has enough seating for 350 guests with a collection of indoor and outdoor seating areas. Guests arriving via the boardwalk or by boat can grab a table on the restaurant’s many decks extending over the water, or kick back in one of the interior’s antique upholstered wooden booths. Walls of windows on both floors open completely creating an abundance of open air seating on the harbor’s emerald green waters treating guests to spectacular views of the marina and the coast’s famous white sand beaches. Guests will also want to check out LandShark Lookout, an outdoor deck 30 feet above the dock and the best place on the coast to relax and celebrate the sunset. For guests strolling on the boardwalk, the “Margaritas-To-Go” pick-up window will be a great stop.
Music is the key ingredient that seasons this delightful concoction of good food, great fun and escape. On the restaurant’s main stage, regularly scheduled local and regional performers will entertain guests with everything from Jimmy Buffett tunes to pop, rock, country music and more.
Margaritaville’s fresh, coastal-inspired menu lets guests break the rules, have fun and indulge as much or as little as they please. The food and drinks are prepared in true Margaritaville style, laid back, fun and one-of-a-kind. The menu features a collection of hand-crafted specialty margaritas, frozen concoctions and cold beer along with signature food items like the Cheeseburger in Paradise and Volcano Nachos. Other notable menu items include the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, the “Drunken” Shrimp Skillet with tequila key lime butter, roasted garlic, onions and peppers served with a mini baguette and LandShark Lager Fish & Chips, with the lightest and crispiest of hand-dipped batters.
Margaritaville Destin also offers a gluten-free menu, which includes some of the popular main menu items along with a few specialty items like the Gluten-free Brownie Sundae.
In addition to the restaurant, the Margaritaville retail store opened today and gives guests the opportunity to extend their visit by taking the music, fashion, and flavors of Margaritaville home with them.
