The number of new COVID cases in Okaloosa schools falling

NICEVILLE, Fla. — The number of new COVID-19 cases among students and staff in Okaloosa County schools continues to drop precipitously.

This is the fourth consecutive week of cases decreasing among students and staff.

There were 24 new COVID-19 cases reported in the week ending February 18, remarkably down from 117  new cases during the previous seven-day period, according to the Okaloosa County School District’s COVID-19 dashboard.

Just four weeks ago the OCSD reported 531 new cases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the overall positivity rate among students is 12.34 percent, according to the OCSD.

Elementary School Average – 12.0 %

Middle School Average – 12.92%

High School Average – 11.86%
