NICEVILLE, Fla — Is the arrival of migrating robins a harbinger of an early spring? If so, springtime weather in Niceville may not be too far off. This morning, a large flock of robins was feeding in our yard located in east Niceville.
Interestingly, migrating robins arrived on the same day last year, January 2.
According to Journeynorth.org, Robins typically start moving northward from Florida and the Gulf states ahead of warm fronts, arriving just before or along with rainy weather. This means they arrive right when earthworms must emerge from their tunnels or drown.
