Restrepo director Sebastian Junger coming to Niceville

Junger is the internationally acclaimed, best-selling author of WAR, The Perfect Storm, A Death in Belmont and Fire. He is also the acclaimed director of the documentary films Restrepo and Korengal. As a contributing editor to Vanity Fair and as a contributor to ABC News, he has covered major international news stories and has been awarded the National Magazine Award and a SAIS Novartis Prize for Journalism.

NICEVILLE, FL – New York Time bestselling author and renowned director, Sebastian Junger, will take center stage at the main event for Northwest Florida State College’s NWF Reads, the college’s annual week-long literacy event, on April 15, 2019, at 7 p.m. in the Mainstage Theater. The event is free and open to the public with a book signing to follow.

“We’re thrilled to welcome renowned journalist and director Sebastian Junger to Northwest Florida State College,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President. “Junger has made a significant impact on the military community with his work, and we are honored to offer this free event to our local military members and region.”

Immediately preceding the performance by Junger on April 15 will be the annual Blackwater Review reception in the McIlroy Gallery at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. The event includes selected student readings and the unveiling of the student art selected for the cover of this year’s Blackwater Review, the college’s annual literary and fine arts journal.

In addition, on Thursday, April 11, selected student poets and writers published in this year’s Blackwater Review will read and perform their pieces at a casual event at 6 p.m. in the McIlroy Gallery.
