Niceville city election is Tuesday. Vote!

Niceville Municipal Election is Tuesday

Voting will take place in the council chambers at Niceville City Hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. City Hall is at 208 N. Partin Dr.

The City of Niceville will hold its 2019 municipal election on Tuesday, July 16. Registered voters living within the city limits of Niceville will decide two city council races.

Voting will take place in the council chambers at Niceville City Hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. City Hall is at 208 N. Partin Dr.

A total of five candidates are running for two city council seats in two separate city council races. The races are citywide, so voters may vote in both races regardless of where they reside in the city.

Running for the Group 5 seat are Cathy Alley, a Realtor; Paul Keith, owner and operator of a lawn care service company; and Warren Meigs, a Realtor.

Heath Rominger, the current Group 5 Councilman, is not seeking re-election.

Stephen Shelton, a certified public accountant, is running to unseat longtime Councilwoman Judy Boudreaux in the race for Niceville City Council Group 3,

Group 1 Councilman Bill Schaetzle, and Mayor Randall Wise, are reelected without opposition.

The City of Niceville is the only municipality in Okaloosa County which conducts its own elections. The election is not conducted by the Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Office, nor is it held on the Okaloosa’s county-wide municipal election day held in the spring.

Voter turnout for Niceville’s city election is typically the lowest among all elections held in the county. Since 2000, the average voter turnout for elections in the City of Niceville is 5.98 percent. In 2013, the last city election held in Niceville, voter turnout was 3.5 percent.
