Quilting is an American tradition and has been since the late 1700’s. Throughout the years, people gather to quilt for social purposes, as well as for a cause. The EOD Warrior Foundation is raffling off a handmade patriotic quilt with all proceeds going to support their mission of improving the quality of life for the EOD family by providing emergency financial relief, scholarship opportunities, physical, social, and emotional support. The winning ticket of the patriotic quilt raffle will be drawn on August 1, 2016.

The quilt is designed and created by a sewing circle that originated in Washington DC, whose members at one time all worked for the Department of Defense. For a second year in a row, these quilters worked together to come up with a beautiful patriotic design that includes an EOD badge. This quilt will be a beautiful decorative piece in any home.  The quilters now reside in three different states and the power of technology allows them to coordinate their efforts via videoconferencing. Once the time for the final assembly of the quilt arose, the women all came together to complete the piece.

“We are honored that this sewing circle elected to design a beautiful quilt to support the EOD Warrior Foundation for the second consecutive year,” explains Nicole Motsek, executive director of the EOD Warrior Foundation. “Their hard work and dedication that went into this stunning quilt is incredible, and it will be a beautiful addition in any home.  We look forward to presenting the quilt to the winner in August.”

The women made the quilt to benefit those who serve our great nation.  As sewing circle member, Anita Davis, said, “We have spent our careers supporting war fighters whose names and faces we will never know.  Supporting EOD warriors provides us another way we can use our talents to continue giving back to the community we so much love.”

The quilt can be viewed online at the EOD Warrior Foundation website. The EOD quilt raffle is underway now, and the winner is to be drawn on August 1, 2016. Raffle tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at: http://www.eodwarriorfoundation.org/events/events/view/183.
