Chili Cook-off raises $1,500 for Twin Cities Pavilion

Twin Cities Pavilion in Niceville has received a $1,551 donation to help pay for a new air conditioner. The funds were raised at a Chili Cook-off event sponsored by LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Bluewater Bay Marina Complex.

NICEVILLE, Fla – Twin Cities Pavilion in Niceville has received a $1,551 donation to help pay for a new air conditioner. The funds were raised at a Chili Cook-off event sponsored by LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Bluewater Bay Marina Complex.

Participants either competed or consumed chili during the November 23 fundraiser, raising needed money for the assisted living facility located on John Sims Parkway in the heart of Niceville.

Ryan Hinely, of Bluewater Bay Marina, presented a check for $1,551 to Karen Goodson, Activities Director with Twin Cities Pavilion. The money is needed for a new air conditioner.

Twin Cities Pavilion provides a safe living alternative for persons who are not secure living alone.  The facility is committed by the Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners to provide affordable, supportive living for low and modest income elderly, disabled, or recuperating persons.

In all, 18 people competed for awards by cooking up various kinds of chili during the inaugural chili contest.

The winners are:

Chef’s Choice Award: Dan Mank

Bartender Brigade Award: Sharon Skelly

First Place People’s Choice Award: Ken Haskins

Second Place People’s Choice Award: Bonnie Adkins

Third Place People’s Choice Award: Patty Nickerson
