Teens gain confidence at Women United’s mental health seminar in Walton

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — United Way Emerald Coast’s Women United hosted the EmpowHER Seminar at the Boys and Girls Club of South Walton on November 16, providing local teens with essential mental health resources, educational tools, and community support.

Presented by Eglin Federal Credit Union, the seminar addressed the growing need for mental health support across Okaloosa and Walton counties. Attendees participated in interactive workshops led by partner organizations, which created a safe space for teens to connect, share, and learn practical mental health strategies.

Emerald Coast Science Center facilitated a session where participants screen-printed their own t-shirts, promoting creativity and self-expression.

Pure & Couture Salon brought stylists to host a braid bar, giving students a confidence boost. Additionally, a yoga session taught relaxation techniques and mindfulness practices to help manage stress.

According to event surveys, 76.5% of participants reported increased confidence and self-esteem, demonstrating the impact of the EmpowHER Seminar in fostering mental wellness and community among Walton County teens.
