FDOT weekly traffic advisory for Walton County, Oct. 15-21

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Walton County may encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Here is this week’s traffic advisory for Walton County:

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from east of U.S. 331 to Peach Creek
Drivers may experience the following traffic disruptions the week of Sunday, Oct. 15:

  • Nighttime intermittent U.S. 98 east and westbound lane closures Sunday, Oct. 15 through Thursday, Oct. 19, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations and signalization work
  • Daytime intermittent U.S. 98 inside shoulder closures Monday, Oct. 16 through Friday, Oct. 20, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. as crews place sod in the median
Crews are in the process of widening U.S. 98 from four to six travel lanes between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A in Walton County. So far, crews have completed the structural layer for the new U.S. 98 inside east and westbound travel lanes between Mack Bayou Road and West Hewitt Road. The new 10-foot-wide asphalt shared-use path, constructed from Topsail Hill Road to C.R. 30A, can also be seen along the right side of the photo. Now, crews are widening the next segment between West Hewitt Road and County Road 30A. This $15.7 million U.S. 98 widening project also includes drainage improvements and the construction of bicycle lanes and sidewalks. Work is currently estimated for completion in spring 2024. — State Road 20 Routine Maintenance from U.S. 331 to County Road 883 (Old U.S. 331)
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Oct. 16, through Thursday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drainage operations.
