Cox Communications has doubled the speeds of its High Speed Preferred and High Speed Premier internet packages for customers living in Niceville and all along the Gulf Coast. The Preferred and Premier internet packages represent about 70 percent of local Cox customers.
The increase in internet speed went into effect on Thursday, September 25 with no increase in cost to customers.
Cox High Speed Internet Preferred has increased from 25 megabits per second to 50 megabits per second, and the company’s Premier service increased from 50 megabits per second to 100 megabits per second.
With Preferred 50 Mbps speeds, Cox customers can download an email attachment in less than a second, 10 MP3 songs in 1 second and a full length movie in less than 4 minutes. Cox’s Premier 100 Mbps speeds allow customers to download an email attachment in less than a second, 10 MP3 songs in less than a second and a full length movie can be downloaded in less than 2 minutes.
Cox has announced plans to offer gigabit speeds to all customers by 2017.
