Walton County traffic advisory for April 17-23

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Walton County this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

U.S. 98 Resurfacing from East of Village Road to East of U.S. 331
Construction activities will begin the week of Monday, April 18.  The $10.5 million improvement project will resurface a 6.6-mile section of U.S. 98 from east of Village Road to east of U.S. 331. In addition to resurfacing the project also includes turn lane improvements, drainage, sidewalk, and lighting enhancements, as well as new signage and pavement markings.

U.S. 98 Widening from Emerald Bay Drive to Tang-O-Mar Drive
The week of Sunday, April 17 drivers will encounter intermittent east and westbound single-lane closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. to place asphalt in the center travel lane. This work is in preparation to place the U.S. 98 travel lanes in a new traffic pattern, between Emerald Bay Drive and Tang-O-Mar Drive. All traffic will be shifted to inside and center travel lanes, with a dedicated work zone delineated by orange traffic barrels on the outside of the roadway. This configuration is expected to be in place throughout the spring.

U.S. 98 Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road (C.R.) 30A
The week of Sunday, April 17 drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures from Mack Bayou Road to C.R. 30A from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. as crews continue the installation of drilled shafts.

S.R. 83 Pavement Coring from Leonia Highway (C.R. 185) to the Alabama State Line
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, April 18 through Thursday, April 21 as crews perform pavement coring operations.

U.S. 98 Routine Maintenance East of Watersound Parkway
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures from 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 20 as crews perform paving operations.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
