CRESTVIEW, Fla. — A Crestview man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a single-vehicle accident where a driver appeared to lose control of his vehicle and smash through the front of a downtown Crestview church, the Crestview Police Department has announced.
Paul B. Carroll, 38, of Crestview, has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, resulting in an accident, with serious bodily injury, the Crestview Police Department (CPD) said.
According to the Crestview Police Department (CPD), on February 18, shortly after midnight, its officers responded to the Intersection of James Lee Boulevard (U.S. Highway 90) and North Ferdon Boulevard (State Highway 85) in reference to a single-vehicle accident.
When officers arrived on the scene, they reported seeing a vehicle that appeared to have failed to navigate the turn while traveling south on Ferdon Boulevard. The vehicle rolled and drove through the front of the First Presbyterian Church of Crestview. The accident was captured on video.
The CPD said officers, with the assistance of the members of the Crestview Fire Department, successfully extracted four occupants of the vehicle. Three of the four were transported for serious injuries, and the driver reportedly refused treatment on the scene.
Carroll was transported and delivered into the custody of the Okaloosa County Jail without incident, the CPD said.
