Hayden Boilini and Madison Brake of Niceville High School have received the Award for Excellence in Writing given by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) in recognition of excellence in writing by high school juniors.
Boilini and Brake are two of only 10 students in Florida selected for the award, as well as the only two students from Okaloosa County. Only 164 students earned the award nationally.
These two outstanding juniors have demonstrated not only superior ability but also notable versatility in writing. Hayden was nominated by his junior English teacher, Jennifer Sjostrom, and Madison was nominated by her junior English teacher, Stephanie Cyr.
The NCTE also commended the English Department at NHS for their part in producing outstanding writers.
