CRESTVIEW, Fla. – Two people from Crestview are facing drug charges after the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office searched a car that was stopped for allegedly traveling over the speed limit, the agency said.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), Earnest Goodman, 37, is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The alleged driver of the car, Amber Barrow, 26, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia, the OCSO said.
The pair were reportedly in a car violating the speed limit in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and North Lloyd Street around 11 p.m. Monday, the OCSO said.
According to the OCSO, after the traffic stop, an OCSO K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics coming out of the vehicle.
Deputies said Barrow claimed possession of two digital scales, jewelers’ bags, and a gram of fentanyl they allegedly found during the search.
While Goodman was getting out of the car, a plastic bag with approximately 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine allegedly fell to the ground. Another 10 grams was found in the rear right passenger side where Goodman had been sitting, the OCSO said.
In addition, deputies said they found a loaded handgun with an extended magazine concealed in Goodman’s pants.
