CRESTVIEW, Fla. — Okaloosa County Board Chairman Paul Mixon will host a September town hall meeting in Crestview to gather public input on Patriots Park, a new county park to be built in north Okaloosa.
The meeting is scheduled for Sept. 3, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Live Oak Baptist Church sanctuary at 4565 Live Oak Church Road in Crestview.
Mr Mixon emphasized the importance of community involvement in shaping the future of the park. The new park will span more than 100 acres of woods and wetlands along the Shoal River.
“This land gives us the opportunity to create a unique environmental space in north Okaloosa County that will benefit the residents living in the vicinity as well as the wider public and visitors,” Mixon said.
He encouraged residents to attend the meeting to offer suggestions and guidance for maximizing the property’s potential for future recreational enjoyment.
According to the county, the land is home to native plant species and wildlife, making it a valuable resource for the environment and the community. Residents living nearby and the general public are strongly encouraged to participate in the discussion about the park’s development.
