The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce said anywhere from Mary Esther to Destin will have views of the planes in today's flyover honoring the Doolittle Raiders, (Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce)
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — This afternoon, the U.S. Air Force is performing what is believed to be the largest aircraft flyover in the history of Okaloosa County in commemoration of the Doolittle Raiders and the 75th Anniversary of the United States Air Force.
At 5 p.m., up to 29 vintage and modern military aircraft will take off from Hurlburt Field and fly along the coast. The Okaloosa Island Boardwalk is the center stage for the event.
According to the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, the aircraft can be viewed everywhere along the beach from Mary Esther to the Destin East Pass.
There will be a number of activities taking place at the boardwalk, including a performance by the Choctaw High School Jazz Band
Mike Minich with Southern Events Management is announcing aircraft details during the flyover which is anticipated to last 11 minutes.
The flyover will be live-streamed on Emerald Coast TV.
