Tinkergarten childhood outdoor learning classes are coming to Niceville. Ashley Eskey, a Tinkergarten leader, has announced regular classes will begin at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park on April 9 and April 14. Four free trial classes will be held beginning Monday, March 26.

Tinkergarten, founded in 2012, is a program that provides high-quality early childhood learning in the healthiest classroom of all—the outdoors. Families connect with trained leaders in their local community for play-based kids classes that help develop core life skills, all while having fun.

Tinkergarten’s curriculum helps kids develop, grow, and gain confidence, while they enjoy fun, engaging experiences in the physical freedom of their local green space. Classes take place once/week and run in sessions of varying length, from one to 12 weeks.

In each lesson, an engaging scenario unfolds that allows kids to launch and direct their own play. No two kids ever have the same experience, because it’s the process that matters. Adults play a role, too, as they observe, honor and support their child’s independent exploration and playful learning.

Each Tinkergarten class is about one hour long and takes place in a local park. A leader guides the group of children and parents through one or more activities that fit to a progressive curriculum, each of which develop skills that are critical to early childhood development. The activities focus on outdoor play, including creative use of natural resources.

Ashley will be offering regular classes on Mondays and Saturdays.
