Threshold lowered for bridge toll discount

The Mid-Bay Bridge Authority has voted to reduce the number of monthly trips across the bridge motorists must make to earn a discount on the toll.

The Bridge Authority agreed to reduce the number of bridge crossings for Sun Pass “Frequent Users” from 41 to 32 trips per month. Frequent users pay $2 per trip versus the $3 paid by Sun Pass users who cross the bridge less frequently.

It is estimated that reducing the threshold for the discount from 41 to 32 trips per month will make the reduced toll available to twice as many motorists as it does under the current toll structure.

The reduced toll rate is expected to be in place by the first of the year.
