Three arrested in Walton County drug bust; fentanyl, guns seized

SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. — Three individuals have been arrested, and more than 100 grams of fentanyl, along with methamphetamine, firearms, and cash, have been seized following a two-month investigation by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office  (WCSO) VICE/Narcotics Unit.

According to the WCSO, investigators executed a search warrant at 44 Angel Lane, recovering approximately $3,000 in cash, nine firearms, and significant quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine. One firearm was reportedly stolen from Okaloosa County.

Those arrested and their charges include:

• Christian Michael Weafer, 34: Trafficking in Fentanyl over 28 grams, Possession of Methamphetamine, Grand Theft of a Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
• Daisy May Sherman, 28: Trafficking in Fentanyl over 28 grams, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
• Joshua Michael Melcher, 46: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Ms Sherman, a convicted felon, was previously adjudicated guilty in Operation Mr. Clean, a major drug trafficking investigation concluded in 2020, the WCSO said.

Both Mr Weafer and Ms Sherman face a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years if convicted of trafficking more than 28 grams of fentanyl.

“Every narcotics case is a reminder that patience and persistence are often just as important as the tools we use,” said Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson.

“The seizure of fentanyl in this investigation was the result of months of meticulous work—watching, listening, and waiting for the right moment. The dangerous threat posed by these drugs is real and while this is a victory, we are determined to continue our fight against drugs in our community.”

Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, as little as 2 milligrams can be lethal.
