Teen charged with putting rat poison in man’s orange juice

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – A 14-year old Fort Walton Beach area boy was taken into custody Sunday after admitting he put soap and rat poison in a man’s orange juice, according to a report by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The OCSO reports it has charged the teen with poisoning food or water with the intent to injure or kill.

The victim says he tasted something peculiar in his cup of orange juice and quickly spit it out, then poured the contents in the sink. He says he noticed green particles which he recognized as rat poison.

He told deputies that he keeps the poison in the kitchen. It was located on top of the refrigerator.

The suspect says he put the poison in the man’s cup because he heard him talking about putting him in some type of “shelter home” (residential counseling).
