Super Soaker inventor to Speak in Niceville

NICEVILLE, FL –  The public is invited to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on Friday, January 18 for a free program titled The Power of Perseverance, featuring Lonnie Johnson, U.S. Air Force veteran, NASA engineer and inventor of the Super Soaker squirt gun.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7:30 p.m. Limited seating is available. This is the second event in the NWF President’s Speaker Series, an initiative to bring renowned speakers to northwest Florida.

Johnson will discuss his history and how the ever-increasing rate of technology evolution impacts the future. He served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was awarded multiple medals and helped develop components in the stealth bomber program. Later as a NASA Nuclear Engineer, he received multiple achievement awards for his work in spacecraft system design. Johnson is most known as the inventor of the Super Soaker squirt gun that received multiple industry awards, including Outdoor Toy of the Year.

The next free event in the President’s Speaker Series features money experts Rachel Cruze and Chris Hogan on April 4, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.
