State Road 20 construction project to begin March 3

A $7.4 million construction project will begin March 3, 2014 to mill and resurface State Road (S.R.) 20 from Roberts Drive in Niceville to County Road (C.R.) 83A in Walton County. Other improvements include:

• New roadway striping and signage
• Minor sidewalk, curb and gutter construction
• New handrails and guardrails
• New pedestrian signals
• Upgrading some curb ramps to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act Standards
• Roadway and shoulder repairs
• Drainage improvements

To help minimize traffic impacts, Okaloosa County lane closures will be limited to 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Lane closures will not be allowed on weekends and holidays. In Walton County, drivers may encounter alternating lane closures during day and/or nighttime hours.
