CRESTVIEW, Fla. — A two-and-a-half-hour standoff took place yesterday morning after fugitive warrants and Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office patrol units arrived at a home on Oak Terrace Drive in Crestview to take a wanted individual into custody.
While a perimeter was being established outside the house, 32-year-old Joseph Styles was spotted trying to escape through a back window, according to a report by the OCSO.
When he has challenged Styles, who has active warrants out of New York on a dangerous drugs-related charge, went inside and refused to come out.
Members of the OCSO Special Response Team, Crisis Negotiations Unit, and other law enforcement assets were on hand. SRT deputies ultimately entered a bedroom in the house and took Styles into custody.
Styles is currently being held at the Okaloosa County jail, awaiting extradition to Oneida County New York.
The OCSO has also charged Styles with resisting an officer without violence.
