September 28 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports this morning the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 4,971, 18 since yesterday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 675.

The total number of COVID-19 -related deaths in Okaloosa County is 109, no change.

Statewide, 738 new cases were reported since yesterday.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is 296, no change. On Friday, there were 20 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals; four in ICU beds.

According to the state DOH, yesterday there were 66 tests returned in Okaloosa with 18 positives. The daily positivity rate was 27.27 percent. The previous day, our daily positivity rate was 10.87 percent.

Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate was 8.0 percent for the week ending Saturday, Sept. 26. It was 6.15 percent for the week ending Sept. 19, 8.3 percent for the week ending Sept. 12, and 7.33 for the week ending Sept. 5.

Okaloosa County’s weekly positivity rate of eight percent is about 65 percent higher than the state average of 4.8 percent.
