Saturday in the Park 2019 is April 27

The Florida Artist Blacksmithing Association is conducting traditional blacksmithing demonstrations during Saturday in the Park 2019. Demonstrations will cover various blacksmithing techniques from modern to historical, including the use of a hand powered sliding bellows.

Saturday in the Park 2019 is set to take place in Valparaiso on Saturday, April 27, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 43rd annual festival will be held at the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida and across the street at lovely Perrine Park.

This free community event showcases our local heritage with free Museum admission, historic re-enactments and traditional craft demonstrations.  Among other fun things, enjoy live entertainment, craft & food vendors, a Kid Zone, flower show, and car show.

Additionally, blacksmiths will be dressed representing smiths from the Viking era to today.

The day’s festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with the start of the Heritage 5k Run/Walk & Kids 1 Mile Fun Run, following a traditional opening ceremony.

Heritage 5K Run

Take a free self-guided tour of the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida and view historic exhibits about early industries such as fishing, turpentine and transportation.

The kids will love the Discovery Room with hands-on exhibits, while the adults will delight in “Paradise Gardens”, an outdoor exhibit created and managed by the Valparaiso Garden Club.

Enjoy a variety of entertainment including choirs and bands, as well as historic re-enactments and traditional craft demonstrations including blacksmithing, spinners, bobbin’ lace, tatting, basket and loom weaving, chair caning, and more.

The “Kid Zone” has many things to do… old-fashioned games and toys, SpaceWalk slide, arts & crafts, face painting and more.

Make history and join the fun at the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida’s 43rd Saturday in the Park Festival.  There is handicap parking and a golf cart shuttle from Lincoln Park and surrounding streets.

The Heritage Museum is at 115 Westview Ave.
