Plew Elementary celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Students at James E. Plew Elementary School in Niceville are celebrating “Hispanic Heritage Month” which runs from September 15 to October 15, 2014.  During these weeks, the students learn about traditions, geography, ancestry and more about the Hispanic Countries around the world.

“The students will learn folk dances, watch cultural videos, study poems, research famous Hispanic people, listen to Hispanic speakers, and participate in Hispanic cooking classes,” said Kindergarten teacher Mary LaPointe.  “We kicked off our celebration with a wonderful program during our School Open House on September 16, 2014.  Our traditional taco dinner, prepared by Plew’s Hispanics parents, was a big hit.  Olé!”
