First place winners, Caleb and Timmy Hicks.
The 7th Annual Pinfish Grand Nationals at Bluewater Bay Marina Complex drew 84 teams this past weekend for the popular adult/youth, one-hour-long fishing tournament inside Ward Cove.
Pinfish, a go-to bait for local anglers, is in this instance the fish to catch to win prizes. The biggest fish of the tournament weighed in at 3.18 ounces.
The winning team consisted of Caleb Hicks and Timmy Hicks. The pair also landed the biggest fish of the tournament.
The tournament requires teams to consist of two persons: one licensed fisherman and one angler 15 years old or younger. The teams had exactly one hour to fish anywhere inside Ward Cove on Rocky Bayou. The aggregate weight of 10 fish determines the winner.
Grandfathers, grandmothers, moms, dads, uncles, aunts and family friends fished with their junior partners during the July 28 event, according to organizers.
Here are the results:
• 1st Place: Caleb and Timmy Hicks with a weight of 2.370 lbs.
• 2nd Place: Austin and Chris Goshorn with a weight of 2.048 lbs
