Weekly Traffic Advisory for Okaloosa County and Walton County. (Florida Department of Transportation)
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers in Okaloosa and Walton counties may encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Here is this week’s traffic advisory.
— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
This week, the U.S. 98 eastbound travel lanes between Perry Avenue and Brooks Bridge will be shifted toward the outside of the roadway onto temporary travel lanes. The U.S. 98 westbound travel lanes will subsequently shift this spring. This configuration will be in place while crews construct the new westbound Brooks Bridge structure. Additionally, drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions on Sunday, Feb. 18, through Thursday, Feb. 22, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:
— Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge, Sunday, Feb. 18 through Thursday, Feb. 22, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities. Flagging operations during work will lessen traffic disruption.
— Mary Esther Boulevard (State Road 393) Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to Beal Parkway (State Road 189)
Drivers may encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures on Mary Esther Boulevard for paving operations, median construction, and to lower manholes at the following locations and times:
— State Road 85 Improvements from State Road 123 to Hospital Drive
Drivers may encounter intermittent S.R. 85 north and southbound inside lane closures between Rattlesnake Bluff Road and I-10, Monday, Feb. 19 through Thursday, Feb. 22, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving operations.
— State Road 85 Resurfacing from north of Commerce Drive to Bill Lundy Road
Drivers may encounter intermittent State Road 85 southbound single-lane closures from Butler Road to Friendship Lane on Monday, Feb. 19, and Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for shoulder grading and sod work. Additionally, drivers may encounter intermittent State Road 85 north and southbound single-lane closures for milling and paving operations between:
— State Road 285 Resurfacing from State Road 20 to State Road 293
Drivers may experience intermittent State Road 285 north and southbound lane closures between John Sims Parkway (State Road 20) and State Road 293, Sunday, Feb. 18 through Thursday, Feb. 22, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 east and westbound lane closures from Sunday, Feb. 18, through Thursday, Feb. 22, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for milling and paving operations.
— State Road 189 (Lewis Turner Boulevard) Improvement Project from Willwall Street to Camp Pinchot Road
Drivers may experience intermittent north and southbound State Road 189 turn-lane closures from Willwall Street to Camp Pinchot Road, Sunday, Feb. 18 through Thursday, Feb. 22, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for the placement of final pavement markings.
— U.S. 98 Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road 30A
Drivers may encounter intermittent, alternating lane closures, Sunday, Feb. 18 through Thursday, Feb. 22, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for milling and paving operations at the following locations:
— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from east of U.S. 331 to Peach Creek
Drivers may encounter nighttime intermittent U.S. 98 east and westbound lane closures, Sunday, Feb. 18 through Thursday, Feb. 22 from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
— Interstate 10 (I-10) Routine Bridge Maintenance over U.S. 331 (Exit 85)
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Feb. 19, from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
— I-10 Routine Bridge Maintenance over State Road 285
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures east of the county line on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
