Okaloosa traffic advisory for June 19-25

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa County as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

— State Road (S.R.) 85 Improvements from S.R. 123 to Hospital Drive
Drivers will encounter the following construction-related traffic impacts:

  • Intermittent, northbound lane closures on R. 85, between the Shoal River Bridge and Hospital Drive, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, June 20 through Thursday, June 23, for paving operations.
  • Northview Lane will be closed at the Antioch Road intersection from 5 a.m. Monday, June 20, through 5 m. Friday, June 24 as crews install drainage pipe asphalt. Traffic will be routed to Northview Lane via Southview Drive and Rae Avenue during the closure. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained.
  • Drivers may encounter temporary on and off-ramp closures at the S.R. 85/Duke Field overpass, from Monday, June 20 through Thursday, June 23, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. as crews resurface the S.R. 85 acceleration and deceleration lanes at the ramps. The on and off-ramp closures will only occur in one direction at a time (north or southbound), allowing drivers to have continued access to S.R. 85 and Duke Field overpass. Traffic will be routed to the open on or off-ramp, and then drivers will need to proceed to the nearest U-turn location to change Signage will be in place and traffic flaggers will be on-site to direct motorists.

— S.R. 20 (John Sims Parkway) Resurfacing Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent outside westbound lane closures from Edge Avenue to west of the Rocky Bayou Bridge Monday, June 20 through Thursday, June 23, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as crews repair and construct sidewalk along the north side of the roadway.

— S.R. 4 Bridge Replacement over Blackwater River
Work activities continue with demolition of the old bridge and drainage on the northside of the project. Traffic will encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday through Friday. Drivers are reminded the speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph through the work zone.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
