“On this solemn occasion, we recognize that we have lost more Americans in a single year, to this pandemic, than in World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War combined. As Okaloosa County team members, leadership and elected officials reflect on the loss of loved ones, we optimistically plan to defeat this virus as a County, as a State and as a Nation by supporting local vaccination efforts and encouraging our community to take public health-recommended measures to mitigate risk of spread,” stated a news release issued by the Board of County Commissioners.

“The loss of life caused by this virus brings sadness to our nation and families,” said Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioner Chairman, Carolyn Ketchel.

“May we hold fond memories close to our hearts as we mourn the loss of neighbors and loved ones.”

In recognition of the lives lost and in dedication to our commitment to heal, Okaloosa County BCC Buildings have lowered their flags to half-staff until sunset February 26, 2021.
