Okaloosa COVID-19 cases double over the past week, FWB sees big increase

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Fort Walton Beach has increased by 45 percent over the past 24 hours. In Okaloosa County, the number of confirmed cases has increased by 13 percent since Tuesday morning and 100 percent over the past week. In Okaloosa County, the number of confirmed cases now is 78, up from 69 Tuesday morning.

NICEVILLE, Fla  — The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Fort Walton Beach has increased by 45 percent over the past 24 hours. In Okaloosa County, the number of confirmed cases has increased by 13 percent since Tuesday morning and 100 percent over the past week.

In Okaloosa County, the number of confirmed cases now is 78, up from 69 Tuesday morning, its largest one-day rise in cases.

Okaloosa had 39 confirmed cases on April 1. It took 23 days for Okaloosa to reach 39 cases; it took only seven days to double that number.

Okaloosa currently reports one death, no increase since last week. The number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa has increased from six to 11 over the past week.

According to the most recent report, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Fort Walton Beach this morning totals 20, up from 14 yesterday morning. There were just five reported cases in Fort Walton Beach one week ago.

In Niceville, there are 14 confirmed cases. One week ago, there were 10: a 40 percent increase.

Crestview has eight confirmed cases, up from four last week: a 100 percent increase.

Destin has 22 confirmed cases this morning versus 15 confirmed cases one week ago: a 45 percent increase.

Eglin Air Force Base reports one confirmed case. There were none reported last week.

Shalimar has seven confirmed cases, up from just one case one week ago.

Mary Esther has two confirmed cases, up from one last week.
