School Superintendent Marcus Chambers
NICEVILLE, Fla – The following statement has been issued by The Okaloosa County School District:
Parents, we have completed assessments of school buildings, and power has been fully restored to all but two locations which we expect to be addressed tomorrow. As a result, school is scheduled to resume on Monday, September 21st.
Reports of roadways being opened continue to come in. Bus transportation will be available with drivers taking extra caution where needed. We certainly want our families to take any necessary precautions to stay safe. Please notify your school if road closures or lack of power limit your ability to get to school.
We would like to thank Gulf Power for working around the clock to restore power to our schools and to our Emergency Operations personnel and first responders who have worked to keep all of us safe.
We may provide you with additional updates over the weekend, if needed. Otherwise, we look forward to school resuming on Monday.
Thank you and have a safe weekend.
