OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Okaloosa County has issued an “Intent to Award” for constructing a new wastewater treatment facility to address future needs in North Okaloosa.
According to the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), the contract was awarded to J&P Construction Company following a competitive sealed bid.
The Shoal River Ranch Water Reclamation Facility will be a state-of-the-art plant designed to process 1.25 million gallons of wastewater per day in its initial phase, with provisions for future expansion, stated the BOCC. The facility is meant to support new residential developments by providing public sewer services and reclaimed water for irrigation and industrial use.
The $40.8 million project is funded through a combination of federal and state grants and a state legislative appropriation.
Construction is expected to begin later this year after permits are finalized, with completion anticipated by late 2026.
The plant will be on a 20-acre site at Shoal River Ranch, east of Crestview, south of U.S. Highway 90.
