October 31 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports Saturday the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 6,499, 26 new cases since Friday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 881.

Statewide, 2,331 new cases were reported.

The DOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 130, no change.

Based on population, Okaloosa should be recording 21 or fewer new cases per day to achieve a positivity rate of below 10 cases per 100,000 in population.

Okaloosa County mobile test dates

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is reported to be 344, one since yesterday. The FDOH reports today there are 27 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 168 tests returned Friday in Okaloosa with 24 positives. The daily positivity rate is 14.29 percent, down from 15.76 percent the previous day.

A positivity rate of 10 percent or higher is considered an indicator of widespread transmission.

Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 9.59 percent for the week ending Oct. 24, down from 9.91 percent the previous week, according to the FDOH.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 5.7 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
