October 30 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports today the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 6,473, 100 new cases since yesterday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 878.

Statewide, 5,592 new cases were reported today.

The DOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 130, no change.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is reported to be 343, five since yesterday. The FDOH reports today there are 24 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s daily positivity rate is 15.76 percent, slightly down from 15.87 percent the previous day. A positivity rate of 10 percent or higher is considered an indicator of widespread transmission.

Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 9.59 percent for the week ending Oct. 24, down from 9.91 percent the previous week, according to the FDOH.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 4.8 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.

The rate, about half of what it has been over recent weeks, is the result of revised data collection and reporting methods.
