NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports this morning the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 5,793, 37 since yesterday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 781.
The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 -related deaths in Okaloosa County is 128, no change.
Statewide, 3,449 new cases were reported today.
The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is 317, no change. The FDOH reports today there are 17 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.
According to Health Department Director Dr. Karen Chapman, week six of school saw the most students (45) and staff (18) cases of COVID-19 since school started.
Chapman said the 63 cases resulted in 705 students and 38 teachers being placed in quarantine.
COVID-19 cases and quarantines led to the cancellation of this week’s high school football games.
According to the FDOH, there were 523 tests returned yesterday in Okaloosa with 39 positives. The daily positivity rate is 7.46 percent, down from 14.66 percent the previous day.
Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate was 9.91 percent for the week ending Oct. 17, up from 7.79 percent the previous week, according to the FDOH.
Florida’s weekly rate is 12.7 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data
