DESTIN, Fla. – On Tuesday, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies were once again called to a Destin cosmetics store for a reported theft in progress.
Deputies responded to the same store for a similar call on Sunday, two days earlier.
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), deputies responded to the Ulta store on Emerald Coast Parkway, where they charged two individuals from Alabama with petty theft over $300.
Dontavious Wyckoff, 29, and Latisha Scott, 41, both of Montgomery, were charged after surveillance video confirmed allegations the pair had been putting perfume items down their pants, the OCSO said in a statement.
According to the OCSO, Wcykoff’s charge rises to the level of a felony because the agency said it is his third subsequent offense. He has multiple convictions in Alabama for shoplifting and theft of property, from Louisiana for felony theft, and in Georgia for shoplifting, the OCSO said.
In the first incident at the store on July 17, three Georgia individuals were captured and charged after allegedly taking merchandise valued at $8,000 and running from deputies.
