NWFSC forensics team claims FCSAA state championship title and awards

NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) Forensics Speech and Debate Team won several awards at the virtual Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) State Championship.

The team from NWFSC competed against students from 28 other Florida College System schools and placed in 11 competitions. Four NWFSC students won individual honors, including Aleksandria Herr, who received the prestigious Shira Brownstein Award.

The Shira Brownstein Award is presented to the student who best shows the values of friendship, generosity, modesty, and helping others in the forensics community. It was established in memory of Shira Brownstein, a Tallahassee Community College forensics team member who passed away in 2011.

The other NWFS students receiving individual honors are Lola Sennett, Isaiah Taylor, and Mason Porter.

The Florida College System Activities Association, Inc. (FCSAA), is a statewide non-profit corporation that regulates, coordinates, and promotes intercollegiate activities in athletics, brain bowl, forensics, model United Nations, music, student government, student publications, and theatre. Membership in the FCSAA is open to the 28 colleges in the Florida College System.
