November 23 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health Monday reported 31 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County.

The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa now stands at 8,354.

Statewide, 6,331 new cases were reported on Monday by the FDOH.

The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 145, no change.

Currently, there are 45 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 300 test results returned in Okaloosa on Monday with 33 positives. The daily positivity rate is 11.0 percent, up from 6.93 percent the previous day.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 16.39 percent for the week ending Nov. 21, up from 14.94 percent the previous week,

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 7.5 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
