NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports today the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 7,353, 73 new cases since yesterday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 1,008.
Statewide, 5,607 new cases were reported by the FDOH.
The DOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 139, no change.
The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is reported to be 375, two since yesterday. The FDOH reports today there are 45 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.
According to the FDOH, there were 691 test results returned yesterday in Okaloosa with 74 positives. The daily positivity rate is 10.71 percent, down from 16.2 percent the previous day.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 13.61 percent for the week ending Nov. 7, up from 13.19 percent the previous week, according to the FDOH.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 7.6 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
