Cathy Alley and Judy Boudreaux have been elected to serve four-year terms on the Niceville City Council in balloting conducted yesterday at Niceville City Hall.
Boudreaux captured 59 percent of the votes to defeat Stephen Shelton and win reelection to the Group 3 seat. Alley won 58 percent of the votes and defeated both Paul Keith and Warren Meigs to win the Group 5 seat.
A total of 751 ballots were cast in the election; 38 absentee ballots and 713 ballots cast at the polls. That’s about a 7.5 percent voter turnout, about twice the turnout of Niceville’s last contested election. Elections in the City of Niceville are not conducted on the county’s municipal election voting day and typically draw fewer voters than the other municipalities in Okaloosa County.
Here are the vote counts from the July 16 municipal election:
GROUP 3
Judy Boudreaux 432 (59%)
Stephan Shelton 297 (41%)
GROUP 5
Cathy Alley 426 (58%)
Paul Keith 173 (23%)
Warren Meigs 140 (19%)
Group 1 Councilman Bill Schaetzle, and Mayor Randall Wise were unopposed and have been reelected without opposition.
Alley, Boudreaux, Schaetzle, and Wise were sworn in following the counting of the ballots.
